Why us Alt

Unique to Amatis

Wireless mesh network

The most flexible and scalable approach to networked lighting controls. We’ve found wireless networks are always faster to install than wired. Unlike a wireless hub-and-spoke network, our mesh is not bound to a central hub that has range limitations with heavy cost impact. Devices communicate with one another, extending range and adapting the mesh to the shape of your building in a cost-effective and scalable manner. We believe the mesh network to be the simplest approach to design, install and commission into a commercial space.

Industry-leading ROI

LEDs + Controls can save up to 90% of the energy.
Amatis lighting controls often yield ROI as fast as two years.

Fault-tolerance

When devices go down in a wireless hub-and-spoke network, the entire network goes down with it. A wireless mesh network has significantly better fault-tolerance. A failure of one device does not affect the performance of any other device, because each device has stateless programming.

Easiest to design with smallest SKU count

We have the smallest SKU count conceivable to handle the broadest range of applications in commercial buildings. Designing a space with Amatis Controls is also much simpler, because of the low SKU count and fewer range limitations.

Complete security the latest Internet protocols

Our entire system is built on Internet standardized protocols, IPv6, allowing us to implement the latest in cybersecurity without having to develop something ourselves, which would never be as good as the standard you’re using every day on the Internet.

We don’t cause interference

Because we’re using IPv6 and 2.4GHz, it means we’re not interfering with systems in your building on 2.4GHz or others, like walkie talkies.

The Amatis system

Advanced Load Controller

Enable smart fixtures with the Amatis Advanced Load Controller.
The Advanced Load Controller (ALC) is a 20AMP power load controller designed to run either individual fixtures or entire branches of lighting loads, including recessed lights, wall sconces and accent lights.

Smart Driver

Retrofit fixtures with the Amatis Smart Driver.
The Smart Driver is an LED driver with advanced wireless controls, designed to operate and control a wide variety of LED fixtures and LED lamp retrofit kits. The Smart Driver is used when you’re retrofitting, but not replacing, linear fluorescent fixtures.

Sensors

Detect motion, light, temperature and humidity (MLTH) with Amatis sensors.
Sensor1 is a standalone device that does not require a driver or controller to communicate with the 6LoWireless mesh network. Sensor2 connects to the Smart Driver or the Advanced Load Controller via the included RJ12 cable leveraging their on-board 6LoWireless communication, enabling the same MLTH features.

Border Router

Connect your system with the Amatis Border Router, or AMBR for short.
AMBR is a gateway device used to connect the wireless mesh network to the cloud. Once connected, AMBR assigns programming tasks to sensors, drivers, controllers and switches during commissioning, and can be removed from the network once tasks are assigned. Or if AMBR, stays wirelessly connected in your building after programming, remote support and energy usage data are recorded so you can view them from your phone app or web browser.

Switches

One-touch controls with battery or wired Amatis switches.
The Amatis system has battery and wired switch options designed to work with the 6LoWireless lighting controls system. Switches give you control of your lighting system and are programmable to control individual fixtures or entire lighting zones.

App and dashboard

Control and monitor with the Amatis app and dashboard.
After your devices are installed, programming is easy with the Amatis commissioning app.  We’ve made our app as user-friendly as your favorite websites, allowing you to easily interact with your newly installed Amatis devices.

The free Amatis app is available for both Apple and Android devices, and can also be accessed through your web browser.

After commissioning is complete and the system is operational, building owners can monitor their energy savings and system data through the Amatis Dashboard.

Lighting controls strategies

Occupancy / Vacancy

Occupancy is detected with Amatis sensors, one of the central components of every lighting controls install. Occupancy regions are placed by a designer to ensure adequate occupancy detection in the space.

With our Normal Hours Occupancy feature, you can choose how long the lights stay on once motion is detected by customizing the timeout. The less time lights stay on, the higher the savings will be. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) guidelines recommend a 15-minute delay. However, you may want to start with a 10-minute delay for greater energy savings and adjust to a longer time delay if occupants can request it.

With our After Hours Occupancy feature, you can save even more energy because you don’t expect people to be congregating in a space but could expect occasional, short occupancy. You can set a Vacancy Timeout that programs the lights to shut off after a set time of no vacancy in a location.

Daylight harvesting

With our Daylight Harvest feature, you can set lights to dim when there is enough ambient light coming in the windows. You’re able to save energy and still maintain adequate lighting in the space.

Task tuning

With our Switch Control feature, you can set your high- and low-end trim.

The high-end trim feature helps you define what the highest light level allowed in the space is. So 100% high-end rime would output 100% light capability of the fixture. Adjust to a lower percentage to set that as the new highest level.

The low-end trim defines the lowest light level to a percentage other than zero. A good example of when this applies is in a parking garage where the space remains dimly lit for safety.

Time scheduling

Turn lights off based on a predetermined, customizable schedule. This can be used for vacancy control for after hours when buildings are unoccupied.

Data collection

After commissioning is complete and the system is operational, building owners can monitor their energy savings and system data through the Amatis Dashboard.

We aggregate our data in the cloud so you can understand energy savings, occupancy rates, light levels and temperature fluctuations.

No interference

Because we’re using IPv6 and 2.4ghz, it means we’re not interfering with systems in your building on 2.4ghz or others, like walkie talkies.

Building automation system (BAS)

Our system APIs integrate easily with building automation system using BACnetIP. The wireless communication used across our mesh network is called 6LoWireless, a robust protocol built for Amatis internet-connected devices. 6LoWireless is designed to integrate into commercial buildings without risk of interfering with local Wi-Fi or other systems. In addition, 6LoWireless is secure, encrypting all messages across the mesh network with AES 128-bit encryption.

Energy codes and savings

Amatis lighting controls meet Title 24 and Design Lights Consortium requirements. Amatis Controls are ideal for both retrofits and new construction. LED fixtures plus controls can save up to 90 percent of the energy and electricity cost over non-controlled fluorescent lighting and have a return on investment as fast as two years.

Commercial interior applications

Retrofits

Design for Amatis Smart Drivers when retrofitting linear fluorescent fixtures to LED.

In these retrofits, the fluorescent tubes and ballast are replaced with LED tubes and the Smart Driver with dimming capability. Retrofitting provides maximum value, providing all the benefits of intelligent controls at a lower investment level.

Per-fixture control

Design Amatis controls per-fixture for more customization. The 20amp on/off relay Advanced Load Controller (ALC) with 0-10V dimming output is the most commonly used form of fixture control in our system because it is simple, adaptable and powerful. Per-fixture control via the ALC provides maximum flexibility, with the ability to rezone digitally after installation without modifying electrical circuits.

Controlling groups of fixtures

Design Amatis controls in groupings or zones for both installation and energy savings. The Advanced Load Controller can dim groups of fixtures that accept 0-10V dimming, switch existing fixtures that don’t support dimming, or do both with a single device. Controlling groups of fixtures provide maximum ROI, as fast as 2 years with an LED upgrade.
